We are celebrating Felix’s first birthday this weekend, and when I look at his sunny little face, I am reminded of how much he fits the meaning of his name: happy, lucky, fortunate.
Never was there an easier baby! I’ve only had two, but he has been a calm, cheerful delight since he was born.
His birth was joyful and empowering. He was born while I was standing in our living room, holding Guion’s shoulders, and he cried out loudly before the rest of his body had even emerged. From the first moment, he has had a lust for life.
He gets a lot less attention than Moses, but he never complains. Already, I see their personalities diverging. Moses, even as a baby, was fixated on books. Felix hates reading. Whenever I try to read to him, he actively pushes the book away and tries to somersault off my lap. Moses has always been extremely cautious and observant; Felix started scaling the furniture almost before he could crawl. He is boisterous and social and waves to every person and dog he sees.
In terms of nicknames, Moses was always just “Mosey” from the beginning, but Felix has a whole host of pet names: Fee, Feefster, F-Bomb, Bean Sprout, Beanie-Weenie (a favorite lately, in honor of my sister Kelsey, whom he resembles in his disposition: adventurous, cheerful, sweet, the most easygoing).
He is a little light, and we are so thankful that he is in our family. Happy birthday, Beanie-Weenie. We love you so.
Happy birthday to you Felix 's mama!
Aw cute! And lol about hating reading time - I was the same!! (Big sis loved it, but I used to hide behind the couch and play with dolls when my mum tried to read to us.) I came around pretty quickly once I could read for myself, though. 🙃 Hope birthday celebrations are just as happy as Felix!
