Lovely catch up on life. I was thinking of you today when I read this Washington Post article https://www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/2023/03/19/mary-louise-kelly-hearing-loss/

I thought of your experience and thought you might find it of interest. Happy Spring! We made it….well we will have in little over 12 hours… 👏🏼

I am so fascinated by how much you are able to read, and I have appreciated the book rec's over the years, so thank you! Also, HOW do you read so much? I would love to know more about your reading routine. Do you always have reading material with you? Do you save articles to read later? Are you a fast reader? Do you have times throughout the day devoted to reading? Is it part of your job? Do you read while doing other things, like making dinner? I feel like a 4th grader asking these questions but I honestly would love to know!

You're very kind, Elizabeth! I essentially have no hobbies, so if I get any free time, it's usually with a book. I read in the evenings, typically, and whenever I can on the weekend. I'd guess that I'm fairly fast, but I'm also distractible, so I tend to read 4-5 books at a time. I love the Pocket app for saving articles! I'd love to hear how you think about your own reading diet.

I asked a similar question of a knitter I follow on Instagram how she completes so many projects - she said it was primarily due to obsession. I am appreciating this general theme of single-hobby focus. It's not in my nature to do that long-term, and I'm learning to be OK with it and work with it, despite my wishing I could do/read/make so much more. I try to carve out an hour to read before bed, and if I'm not in the mood for reading the news, I'll read at breakfast. I'll bring a book/Kindle with me when I'm out in case I have downtime somewhere, and sometimes I listen to audiobooks on my commute, but I limit those to memoirs read by the author. Anyway, thanks for the reading inspiration and response!
